Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of Malta, His Excellency Dr.Durga Bahadur Subedi presented his Letters of Credence today (17 May 2018) to Her Excellency Ms. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of the Republic of Malta amidst a special ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Valetta.
On the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Subedi conveyed the best wishes and greetings from the Rt. Hon. Mrs. Bidya Devi Bhandari, President of Nepal for the personal health and happiness of Her Excellency the President as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Malta. H.E. Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi also conveyed the best wishes and greetings from Rt. Hon. Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal to His Excellency the President, and to the Government and people of the Republic of Malta.
While receiving the Letters of Credence, Her Excellency Mrs. Preca felicitated Dr. Subedi for being appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Republic of Malta and wished that Ambassador Dr. Subedi would be successful in further consolidating the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Her Excellency the President extended her best wishes for the personal health and happiness of the Rt. Hon. President of Nepal as well as for the continued peace, progress and well-being of the people of Nepal.
The President of Malta H.E. Mrs. Preca also congratulated the people of Nepal for being able to hold successful and peaceful elections of the local, provincial and parliamentary elections which not only implemented the democratic, inclusive and broad-based constitution of Nepal but also paved the way for the social and economic development of Nepal. Her Excellency the President also expressed her hope that the existing ties of friendship between the two countries would continue to be further strengthened through bilateral cooperation for the benefits of the two countries peoples.
During the audience with Her Excellency the President, H.E. the Ambassador Dr. Subedi had an opportunity to brief about the latest political, social and economic development of Nepal. Stating that the successful holding of three levels of elections, the local, provincial and parliamentary elections and the formation of federal, seven provincial and seven hundred fifty three local governments marked the full-fledged implementation of the rights-based, democratic and inclusive constitution of Nepal. H.E. Dr. Subedi further stated that it ended the protracted provincial transition of the country and institutionalized a move from a unitary to federal system of governance. Stating that after the formation of a stable government which would last for full five years term, the development agenda has now come to the forefront with the hope and confidence of better and brighter future of the Nepali people. H.E. Dr. Subedi has highlighted the motto of present government ‘prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali, which would be founded on six fundamental pillars, namely-nationalism, commitment to democracy and fundamental freedoms, social justice, stability, progress and development, good governance, and the end of the protracted political transition.
H.E. Dr. Subedi also thanked, on behalf of the Government of Nepal to the Government and people of the Republic of Malta for their solidarity and cooperation for the development of Nepal. Ambassador Dr. Subedi expressed his desire to further enhance the close and cordial relationship between Nepal and Malta during his tenure.
