Embassy of Nepal, London and Nepal Run UK Host A Joint Event in Honor of London Marathon Runners

The Embassy of Nepal, London and the Nepal Run UK jointly hosted a reception at the Embassy premises on 27 April 2025 in honour of the Nepali Runners who completed the famous London Marathon on 27 April. The Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) London Marathon is considered the world’s biggest marathon and is held annually in London.

On the occasion, H.E. Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, congratulated all Nepali runners who took part in and completed the London Marathon 2025, and applauded the remarkable accomplishments of all those who set new records in the run. He also appreciated all Nepali runners for their contribution in promoting Nepal by participating in such famous events.

Mr. Ghimire assured of continuous support from the Embassy to such initiatives promoting Nepal globally and expressed his readiness to collaborate with the relevant stakeholders as and when possible.
Over 100 Nepali runners, including 59 members from Nepal Run UK, took part in the TCS London Marathon 2025 and successfully completed the race. The Nepali participants also bagged some valuable milestones in the Marathon this year:

• The national golden girl and Olympian, Ms. Santoshi Shrestha broke her own national record by an incredible 3 minutes and 36 seconds, finishing in 2:42:50 hrs.

• Nepal Run UK founder and coach, Mr. Santosh Rai, set an Official Guinness World Record for the “Fastest Marathon in Nepali Traditional Dress,” finishing in 2:59:47 hrs.

• Ms. Ashma BK from Child Rescue Nepal proudly completed the marathon representing Nepal.
Ambassador Mr. Ghimire also decorated these major achievers of the marathon at the end of the program.

Over 840,000 applicants applying for the run, the London Marathon this year witnessed a historical mark with around 57,000 runners crossing the finish line — the biggest ever!
