प्रारम्भिक जीवन

Ambassador Ghimire commenced his office in the UK from January 2025. He possesses an extensive background with 35 years of experience, beginning his career as a senior civil servant in Nepal and later transitioning to a senior policy researcher. He concluded his civil service in January 2021, having held the highest bureaucratic position in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies. He also served the National Planning Commission, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Welfare, being their Permanent Secretary. Throughout his career, he has built a distinguished record in policy reform and implementation, making notable contributions to the liberalization of Nepal's investment framework and trade sector. He has developed considerable expertise in industrial policy, trade policy and development, covering bilateral, regional, and multilateral negotiations. He has been instrumental in various negotiations with India, China, Bangladesh, the USA, and the UAE, among others. Prior to this, he served as the Consul General of Nepal in Kolkata, India, from 2012 to 2016. Upon his retirement from the civil service in Nepal, he became actively involved in numerous policy research works, concentrating primarily on international trade, transit, trade facilitation, foreign direct investment, and industrial development.

Mr. Ghimire has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the distinguished Suprabal Jana Sewashri Medal, a state honor conferred by the President of Nepal. He possesses an MPhil in Public Policy from the University of Bergen in Norway and is a Gold Medalist in Master of Public Administration from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He has attended various training programs, notably at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in the US and the University of York in the UK, where he was honored as a Chevening Fellow.

Mr. Ghimire's accomplishments encompass a substantial collection of published works, with his articles featured in various national newspapers and journals. He has been frequently interviewed by Nepali media across both print and electronic platforms. Additionally, Mr. Ghimire is recognized for his deep passion for literature, reflecting the qualities of both a poet and a writer.

Ambassador Ghimire is married and blessed with two wonderful children.
