The devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River on 26 August 2026 caused significant loss of life and extensive damage to public infrastructure, private property, and housing. Riverside areas in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and other districts were severely affected.
The government has intensified rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas. A post-disaster needs assessment is underway, and it has been anticipated that substantial financial resources will be required for immediate relief, as well as for rehabilitation and reconstruction.
